The pomelo è il frutto della pianta Citrus maxima o Citrus grandis, originaria della Cina, ritenuta una delle tre specie da cui derivano tutti gli agrumi oggi conosciuti, assieme al cedro ed al mandarino. Viene chiamato anche Pomelo, Pummelo, Pampaleone, sciadocco, da non confondere con il Pompelmo che è un suo ibrido. È il più grande degli agrumi. Cresce fino ai 30 cm di diametro e può pesare fino ai 10 kg.
