It is a shrub or small tree that can grow up to 15 metres in height. The foliage is elliptical, serrated and glossy, a beautiful dark green; the bark, on the other hand, is smooth and light grey. It flowers at the end of winter, usually between February and April. The corollas may be single to semi-double.
