Il Cymbidium è una pianta perenne da interno originaria dell’Asia e dell’Australia, appartenente alla famiglia delle Orchidaceae. Si tratta di un’orchidea sempreverde i cui steli possono anche superare il metro di altezza; è provvista di pseudo-bulbi da cui si sviluppano direttamente le lunghe foglie nastriformi, lunghe anche 60 centimetri, che terminano a punta ed assumono tonalità verde scuro. La fioritura avviene dall’autunno sino alla fine dell’inverno quando alla sommità degli steli sbocciano fiori di generose dimensioni, formati da sepali e petali, di vari colori che perdurano per diversi mesi. E’ una pianta di facile coltivazione adatta come complemento di arredo per ogni ambiente interno; predilige esposizione in zone dove le temperature non scendano mai sotto i 15-18 gradi
