A plant with a single, woody, robust stem, from which sprouts a thick tuft of long, flexible leaves, forming a spherical crown up to two metres wide. Mature plants produce long, very showy inflorescences. Plant very resistant to drought and scarcity of soil, although with more soil growth increases considerably, excellent in pots, growth similar to cycas, therefore very slow.
