Plant originaria dell’Africa e del Sudamerica ma ampiamente diffusa anche in America e Asia e in alcune zone considerata infestante.

E’ una rigogliosa pianta sempreverde con fronde pennate abituata ai climi delle foreste tropicali. In natura le sue foglie possono raggiungere anche i 2 metri di lunghezza, nulla a che vedere con le piante decisamente più piccole che teniamo nei nostri appartamenti.
