La Grevillea è un cespuglio molto resistente, che una volta attecchito, resiste benissimo a siccità e eventi climatici avversi. E’ un arbusto sempreverde appartenente alla famiglia delle Proteacee e diffuso in Australia, Nuova Guinea, Nuova Caledonia ed Indonesia. Le sue foglie sono lineari, morbide e di colore blu-verde ma la sua bellezza è data dalla sua fioritura. Alle estremità dei rami si sviluppano delle infiorescenze a grappolo, a forma di ragno dai colori brillanti rosso-giallo, simili ai fuochi d’artificio. Ha un portamento a tumulo e raggiunge l’altezza massima di 1 metro. Resistente alla salsedine, al gelo e alla siccità viene annoverata come una delle piante più utilizzate nei giardini rocciosi, costieri e come ornamento nelle aiuole paesaggistiche. Le dimensioni e l’aspetto possono variare a seconda della stagione e del periodo in cui viene acquistata.
