Kentia or Howea Forsteriana is an evergreen plant with an upright habit that can reach 2 or 3 metres in height; it has a small stem from which long stems develop supporting large, pinnate, dark green drooping leaves. It likes particularly bright locations and avoids direct sunlight and cold draughts, but adapts to areas of half-shade.It needs well-drained soil, rich in organic substances and well drained, while watering should be fairly frequent; it is advisable to maintain a moist environment around the plant by using a saucer and clay or to mist the foliage with warm water and to fertilise the plant in the spring-summer period.
