L’olivo Favolosa, Fs-17 nasce come portainnesto clonale di olivo (Olea europaea) ottenuto attraverso la selezione massale di semenzali della varietà Frantoio. È una varietà di bassa vigoria con portamento tendenzialmente pendulo e rametti fruttiferi piuttosto lunghi, flessibili e carichi di drupe spesso a grappolo. Autofertile, produttività precoce ed abbondante. Drupa di media pezzatura, elevato rapporto polpa/nocciolo. È idonea per la valorizzazione di impianti a media (450/500 piante/ha) e alta densità (1.000-1.100 piante/ha)
La Fs-17 si distingue per l’elevata attitudine alla propagazione per talea, il rapido accrescimento in campo con inizio di fruttificazione già al secondo anno di piantagione e l’evoluzione rapida di incremento produttivo a regime ottimale dal quarto al sesto anno di piantagione. Dalla sua molitura si ottiene un olio extravergine di oliva caratterizzato da un fruttato medio intenso, con piccante che prevale sull’amaro e note di erba tagliata, pomodoro fresco e, leggermente, di carciofo, ottima per intensiva e superintensiva.
La varietà Favolosa si distingue per l’elevata attitudine a produrre olio di qualità, ricco di sostanze volatili, profumi con sentori di erbaceo e fruttato gradevole con un immediato riscontro della ricchezza di polifenoli.
NB la si consiglia se si ha a disposizione impianto irriguo, altrimenti consigliamo di virare su altre cultivar.
