Pianta da esterno ornamentale è molto resistente alle alte temperature e richiede bassa manutenzione; adatto ai principianti. Predilige un’esposizione a pieno sole; raggiunge un’altezza massima di 80/100 cm.
Foglie sottili e strette di un verde brillante, che formano un ciuffo compatto, arrotondato e ricadente a fontana.
Nel periodo estivo e autunnale, sulla sommità di fusti sottili, fioriscono le caratteristiche infiorescenze setolose a pannocchia, lunghe fino a 20 cm, con un colore variabile dal giallo-verde al porpora; i fiori vaporosi sono consigliati per bordure suggestive e rilassanti.
Annaffiare quando, tastando, il terreno risulta asciutto; aumentare le irrigazioni con l’arrivo delle temperature più alte. Evitare ristagni idrici.
È consigliato rimuovere gli steli appena non appena appaiono secchi.
Le infiorescenze possono essere recise e utilizzate per creare eleganti composizioni floreali o bouquet. In alternativa, possono essere essiccate e impiegate come raffinati fiori secchi per decorazioni durature.
