Bougainvillea x buttiana 'Alexandra' is a climbing shrub native to the tropical and subtropical zones of South America. It is an evergreen climber that can reach several metres in length, with ovate green leaves up to 8 cm long, paler on the underside. It develops large clusters of very wavy, 3-5 cm long, purple flower bracts and small purple flowers, which bloom in summer. It can reach about 8-12 metres in length. It prefers a warm, temperate climate with full sun and half shade.
Nb the plants may be flowering or about to flower, bougainvilleas flower cyclically throughout the summer with periods of 10 days without flowers between each flowering
